Involvement

Pena National Palace

One of the finest expressions of 19th-century Romanticism in the world. Perched on a rugged rock, it is the second-highest point in the Sintra Mountains.

Moorish Castle

A privileged spot to admire the sweeping view from Sintra to the sea. Winding along two hilltops of the mountain range, the castle dates back to the early period of Moorish occupation of the Iberian Peninsula, in the 8th century.

Monserrate Palace

The palace was designed by architects Thomas James Knowles (father and son) and built in 1858 by order of Sir Francis Cook, Viscount of Monserrate. It served as the Cook family's summer residence and was constructed over the ruins of a neo-Gothic mansion built by English merchant Gerard de Visme, who was responsible for the original Monserrate palace.

National Palace of Sintra

Located in the historic center of the town, and also known as the Town Palace (Palácio da Vila), it was one of the residences used by the Portuguese Royal Family almost until the end of the monarchy in 1910.

Regaleira Palace and Estate

Situated on the slopes of the mountain and just a short distance from Sintra's historic center, the palace has been classified as a Property of Public Interest since 2002. Surrounded by lush gardens, lakes, grottos, and enigmatic structures, these grounds are filled with symbolic references to alchemy, as evoked by the Freemasons, the Templars, and the Rosicrucians.

Azenhas do Mar

A true picture-postcard scene, Azenhas do Mar is striking for its dramatic setting, with houses cascading down the cliffside to the sea, bathed in a bright and dreamlike light.

Cabo da Roca

Cabo da Roca is the westernmost point of mainland Europe, located at the edge of the Sintra Mountains. It is one of Portugal's most iconic landmarks. Dating back to 1722, the site features a 22-meter-high lighthouse whose beam reaches up to 26 nautical miles (approximately 48 kilometers).

Praia das Maçãs (Apple Beach)

A beach with golden sands at the mouth of the river from which it gets its name. It is said that in autumn, the river would carry many apples from the orchards upstream to the beach, inspiring its name.

Praia Grande (Big Beach)

The largest beach on the Sintra coastline, known for its wide stretch of white sand that delights summer visitors. Its golden sands, pristine Atlantic waters, and dramatic cliffs make Praia Grande a true haven of pleasure all year round.

Praia da Adraga

Renowned for its pure waters and wide, easily accessible beach, Praia da Adraga stands out for its stunning natural surroundings. Beyond the summer season, the beach is ideal for seaside walks or even speleological

 exploration.
